3/4 Undercarriage support BWSR/Stacker machine on an offset yard conveyor

Is it possible to provide a 3/4 undercarriage support instead of 3/3 undercarriage support for the machine which is operating on an offset yard conveyor?

The answer is YES.

Integrate a BWSR/Stacker machine which has 3/4 undercarriage support an offset yard conveyor.

SOLUTION:

By providing a 3/4 undercarriage support we will face the following problems,

1. Feeding the material from the boom conveyor to the yard conveyor during reclaiming operation.

2. Feeding the material from the yard conveyor to the boom conveyor during stacking operation.

3. Feeding the material from the tripper to the intermediate conveyor.

Let us discuss the solution in 3 parts.

a. Undercarriage WITH inclined chute.

b. Intermediate conveyor WITH a tilt.

c. Tripper

a. Undercarriage WITH inclined chute

Below figures show 3/4 undercarriage support machine on an offset yard conveyor.

An inclined chute with proper valley angle (see the below figure) feeds the material from the boom conveyor to the yard conveyor during reclaiming operation.

b. Intermediate conveyor WITH a tilt

Since the axis of the machine is offset with the feeding conveyor now the challenge is to feed the material from the yard conveyor to the boom conveyor during stacking operation. To solve this, a ‘tilted’ intermediate conveyor has to be provided (refer the below sketches).

c. Tripper

To feed the intermediate conveyor, a tripper is provided (refer the below sketch) at the receiving point of the intermediate conveyor.

(As per the system requirement, if necessary a bypass arrangement shall be provided at the discharge point of the tripper)

GUARANTEE POWER

Compared to the machine with a standard tripper, the guarantee power of this machine during stacking mode is slightly more due to additional intermediate conveyor drive. But the overall running cost of the plant shall be the same since there is a considerable amount of reduction in the yard conveyor lift and this results in the reduction of yard conveyor drive motor rating.
