Cable Routing methods from Non-Slewing to Slewing Structure
In Slewing type Yard/Port machines, except Travel Drive all other drives viz., Bucket Wheel, Slew, Luff & Boom Conveyor are mounted on the Slewing structure of the machine, whereas the Electrical House is Mounted on the Non-Slewing structure of the machine.
This article is about various Electrical Cable Routing methods from Non-Slewing structure to Slewing Structure of the machine.
Cable from Electrical House is taken to the Slewing Structure through Tripper. From Tripper (Non-Slewing Structure) to Pylon/Boom (Slewing Structure) by the Swivel Table arrangement.
Cable
from Electrical House is taken to the Slewing Structure through the Under
carriage and then to the Slew structure by means of Circular Festoon
arrangement.
3. ENERGY
CHAIN
Cable
from Electrical House is taken to the Slewing Structure through the Tripper by
Energy Chain arrangement. Energy Chain arrangement is mounted between the Tripper
discharge and the Slew Structure.
4. SLIP
RING
Slip
Ring is mounted between the Non-Slewing & Slewing Structure. Slip Ring is the only available solution for the machine with 360° continuous
rotation (Example – Circular Stacker).
5. CABLE
LOOP
Cable
from Electrical House is taken to the Slewing Structure through the Under
carriage and to the Slew Platform just by forming a ‘Loop’. Care to be taken,
else cables will entangle with the Yard Conveyor Belt Sway Switch / Self
Aligning Carrying Idler Rollers. In general, this method is NOT PREFERRED by
customers.
TO CONCLUDE, EXCEPT CIRCULAR STACKER MACHINE WITH 360° CONTINUOUS ROTATION (Slip Ring is the ONLY option), FOR ALL OTHER SLEWING MACHINES, SLEW ANGLE, LAYOUT RESTRICTIONS & CUSTOMER REQUIREMENT ARE THE FACTORS WHICH DETERMINE THE CABLE ROUTING METHOD.
